Yea, kinda dumb. I like this much better:
%uname -a
FreeBSD localhost.xxx.org 8.0-CURRENT FreeBSD 8.0-CURRENT #0: Mon Mar 17 21:07:06 EDT 2008 root at localhost.xxx.org:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/MOBILE i386
$ uname -a
SunOS xxx 5.10 Generic_118855-33 i86pc i386 i86pc
There I know exactly what I'm working on. Seems a few Linux
versions just like to say "Linux" instead of your example above
"Linux ubuntu" which gives me:
sh-3.1$ uname -a
Linux xx.xxx.net 2.6.18.1libata-patched #1 SMP Mon Mar 19 11:56:51 EDT 2007 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Think I'll suggest a new policy where, from this point on, we don't use
any Linux distro other than Ubuntu. :P
