I use Joyent (formerly TextDrive) myself.  It's shared hosting, FreeBSD or
OpenSolaris-based, and starts at $15/mo. No real complaints.

I've also had Westhost recommended by people whose opinions I respect.  They
have a pseudo-vps implementation that starts very, very cheaply ($7/mo).
