[wplug] Leasing desktops/servers/infrastructure -- anybody with experience?

Hi all... this is a fairly off-topic question, so apologies in advance.

I'm looking at a total refresh of my server/network hardware, and I
need to at least consider leasing the equipment.  I don't know
where to start!

Can anybody who's gone down this investigative path give some advice
as to the kind of questions to ask when *beginning* the evaluation?
I'm not yet at the point where "buyout options", "term lengths" or
anything else are under explicit discussion; the questions at this
point are much broader.  

Why would I ever choose to lease my computer systems?  What are the
drawbacks to leasing?  How is desktop leasing different from server
leasing?  Stuff like that.
