I like to use a PDA with software like ministubmler or wififofum. And
if you have GPS in your PDA you can do some cool plotting stuff.

That wifi card is a winner, but let me ask this: Why use a super card to

do a wifi site survey when all the users have crappy cards?

The ubiquiti is more than 10x as sensitive as the 802.11 spec requires,
as such it will get good signal in a place where your standard laptop
will not... does that really make sense for a site survey?

I'd be thinking more like a linksys wpc55ag; standard issue best buy
card, cheap and does a/b/g.

just my 0.02
