Try f-spot.
Just for grins, try mounting the camera as if it were a usb drive; this may work.

Subject: [wplug] Extracting images from digital camera in Linux?
I got a cheap digital camera, 0.10 MP, and it comes with a USB cable,
but I have no clue how I actually transfer the images from the camera
to my local disk. Any ideas?
Zach
