I can completely understand why. For the enterprise, that strategy
makes a lot of sense. After all, all the resources belong to IT and
they can manage them. Unfortunately, Academia is quite different.
Computers purchased under one grant cannot be used for another grant and
so on.
In any case, I've gotten some fantastic suggestions, and learned a lot.
I'll try to summarize the posts and send out another message this
afternoon.
