[wplug] Gparted destroyed my new WD Passport

Well, I tried dd again and it has been chuggin' away for a
couple of hours, which might be a good sign. After all, it
is a 60Gb drive. 

FWIW, here's the hdparm output:

/dev/sda:
 geometry     = 19077/64/32, sectors = 39070081, start = 0

 SFK
