The Ohio LinuxFest is really ramping up! Each year at least a dozen
wplug-ers make the journey to Columbus for the excellent open source
talks, the excitement of the the expo floor, and the fun of the
after-party.

Some of you had mentioned to me that you wanted to submit a presentation.
I just want you to know that it is not too late! WPLUG-ers have been
speakers in the past : Bill Moran and myself. If you have a topic that
would interest Linux fans from all over the midwest, go ahead and apply.

Public discussion about the Ohio Linuxfest should continue on
wplug AT wplug DOT org

If you'd like to have a private discussion about the Ohio Linuxfest,
please email me at bethlynn AT ohiolinux DOT org

COLUMBUS, OHIO -- June 26, 2007 -- The call for presentations deadline for
Ohio LinuxFest 2007 is approaching rapidly. The last date for presentation
submissions is July 15, 2007.

Organizers have already received more than two dozen submissions since the
registration form went live earlier this year, and there's still time for
prospective speakers to get in the door. Presentations should be
educational and fun, and provide attendees with useful information related
to Linux and open source. If you are interested in speaking at this year's
event, please submit your presentation proposal at
http://www.ohiolinux.org/speakers.html.

The Ohio LinuxFest is a free event run entirely by volunteers, to help
provide a friendly, community oriented conference that focuses on
educating users about FOSS in a fun environment. Because few conferences
reach out to users in the Mid-West, the Ohio LinuxFest is an unique
opportunity for users to come and learn about Linux, and find out how they
can make use of Linux at home and in their businesses.

Ohio LinuxFest 2007 will be held Friday, September 28 through Sunday,
September 30 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. Most presentations
will take place on Saturday. The audience will consist of a wide range of
Linux community members, including Linux enthusiasts, independent
developers, systems integrators, and IT architects and engineers.
Organizers are seeking speakers to address community-related technology
and/or topics of interest. Each presenter will be allowed at least 45
minutes, and organizers will provide A/V equipment.

Previous speakers include Jeff Waugh of the GNOME project, Google's Chris
DiBona, Apache Software Foundation member Rich Bowen, Linux
International's Jon 'maddog' Hall, Jorge Castro, and many other members of
the Linux and open source community.

All prospective speakers will be notified after July 15 about the status
of their proposal. If you have questions, please email the Ohio LinuxFest
planning committee at team at ohiolinux.org, or speaker chair Joe 'Zonker'
Brockmeier at zonker at ohiolinux.org.
