That would be especially interesting if the locations were very
public. Instead of a room-on-campus, meet where you'd get walk-ins of
a desirable demographic: Pamela's in the Strip at Saturday Brunch;
Cranberry Einstein's 0700 weekdays; Mattress Factory Sunday afternoon;
center concourse at PGH Mills. These locations are all unrealistic,
but you WILL get interested folks walking in to join the fun, so the
challenge is to figure out how to make a WPLUG work at a location
where the curious public will be able to mosey on over.
Installfests shouldn't be in a fusty model-railroad-club basement,
they should be in the center of ExpoMart during a computer show. If I
have to go out of my way to find, then plan to, then actually attend a
WPLUG event, I'm not gonna. But if I'm walking by with my
spouse+brood, or roommates, or hip+vibrant S/O, then I'm likely to be
interested.
