In Fedora one does "yum install fonts-chinese", IIRC. Something similar may work in Debian. Google it?

Subject: [wplug] Chinese in Linux?

I am able to view/copy/paste Chinese characters in MS Windows but in
Linux I just see small 1x1 matrices boxes like:

[7C] [4E]
[89] [30]

I am using firefox/iceweasel and 2.6.18 kernel in Debian.

I would like to be able to view/copy Chinese characters in
console/emacs etc.. but
at least if it could work in firefox/iceweasel would be cool.

Thanks,
Zach
