[wplug] can 2 modems share one cable line?

Using the existing coax would be ideal, but how do I go about bridging networks using a (video) coax cable? Is there something like a ethernet-coax and coax-ethernet conversion/plug?? 
My google search turned up only some obscure items for security companies... a point to a commercial source (preferably a cheap one) would be great!
