[wplug] Epson Inkjets (was: printing to network printer)

Just a quick note about those printer chips. At least for HP, they store the data on the printer and consider this a "feature" - if you use multiple ink cartridges it can remember the ink level of each. However, it's real purpose it to deter 3rd parties from refilling the cartridge. A simple work around for this is to hold onto a couple of old cartridges. The printer usually only has enough memory to hold a couple cartridges (mine holds 3 according to documentation), so you just cycle through a couple of the old cartridges to clear the memory.

Just a quick tip on Epson inkjets since Drew
recommended them. I had one and got very frustrated
when my full ink containers would mysteriously report
empty, and since I had 4 colors, if 1 (say Magenta,
which I never used) reported empty, none of them would
work. This is because there's a little chip in each
cartridge that increments every time you print, and
even if you use no ink it eventually claims to be
empty.
