A hot topic in all of computing is that of virtualization. Last April
we had a presentation from VMWare highlighting some of the features of
their application suite. At Saturday's meeting we had a brief
conversation about Xen and KVM (the latter is now part of the 2.6.20
series of Kernels). While Xen and KVM are Free (as in open source and
no cost), they're not the easiest things to use -- put it simply, VMWare
has them beaten hands down.

However, today we have a new player in the field. InnoTek released
VirtualBox as open source under the GNU General Public license.
VirtualBox runs on Mac, Windows, and Linux and provides an interface
that is very similar to what one gets from VMWare. It sounds like
another viable option for those interested in virtualization.
