Then your company should setup a local YUM repository. If it has more
than a couple Fedora installs, this is just good Enterprise
Configuration Management (ECM) practice.

I've never had an issue with any CF, SD, etc... support, USB, ATA (CF),
etc... since USB and other support was added.

And I've been running Red Hat since the May Day release (3.0.3) too. ;)

The /etc/yum.repos.d has _always_ pointed to the net in _all_ Fedora
installations.

What you're thinking of is the GUI program. In earlier Fedora releases,
the Package GUI was a non-YUM based. In newer Fedora releases, the
Package GUI is YUM based.

Change "enabled=0".

But that doesn't address getting from local files. Hitting "man 5
yum.conf" we see ...

       baseurl
Must be a URL to the directory where the yum repository’s
‘repodata’ directory lives. Can be an http://, ftp://
              or file:// URL.

I believe starting with Fedora Core 6, the YUM meta-data files are on
the CD, so you could try setting it to ...

  baseurl=file:///media/cdrecorder/Fedora/RPMS

Or similar.

Red Hat didn't add YUM until Fedora Core 1. Before then, the Package
GUI was not YUM based.

P.S. _Never_ reinstall Linux. It _never_ solves anything as you're
finding out. ;)
