Yum is very similar to RPM, but better in two ways:

One, by default it is set up to search the Fedora repositories for the
package you want to install.  Meaning, it handles the download for
you.

Two, it can resolve dependencies for the package you are trying to install.


Yumex is just a graphical frontend to the yum exec.
