no, lets not disparage them just yet.  lets wait and get more details first.

if it turns out to be a system that

--is free of the dirty fingerprints common to pittsburgh private/public ventures
--provides "adequate" bandwidth, even at the free level
---->> i.e.  the free service operates at at least 125kbps
--actually works
--respects users privacy
&&
--doesn't restrict users that choose not to use
----->>proprietary operating systems
----->>proprietary payment methods

...

i'll be all for it.  though, i'm not at all convinced that the
starbucks model is best for providing web access in a public space.

i would love for the city to get this right, but am not at all confident.
