It depends on your mail client.  If you use Mozilla Thunderbird, you can
use the Enigmail extension <http://enigmail.mozdev.org/>.  If you use
mutt, there is a pretty good HowTo
<http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Mutt-GnuPG-PGP-HOWTO.html>.  I'm not sure about
Gnome Evolution or other clients, particularly web-based clients such as
GMail or Yahoo! Mail.
