[wplug] No video on docking station

I have kubuntu installed on my thinkpad t42. I'm using the fglrx driver for
my ATI 9600 video card. When the laptop is undocked everything work fine.
When on the docking station, I'm prompted with the GUI login (KDE), but as
kubuntu starts to load my desktop I get to the section which says
"Initializing peripherals" and I lose my video. The system is still powered
on, but my monitor light goes from green to amber. 

Can anyone tell me which log I should be looking at (and location) to get an
idea of where the problem is? Any other troubleshooting steps would also be
appreciated.
