[wplug] Roving IPs

I am looking for a shell script which will email out from a box the IP
address of the host (aka track dynamic IP) I use to run a script:

 

Ifconfig ppp0 > mail -s "new ip address"  stupid at user.com

 

 

But this no longer works.

 

 

Is their a way to set up a script that connects to the users SMTP
server. Injects a messages after username and password are given?

 

 

 

I don't know quite enough about the SMTP protocol to know how to script
a full auth, send, close. Or if there is some definition file or
parameter I can set so the 'mail' client can be defined to use a server,
username, password.
