I seem to recall a thread on the list a few months ago about
filesystems.  There's an interesting article out at
<http://linuxgazette.net/122/TWDT.html#piszcz> comparing XFS, JFS,
Reiser3|4, and ext2|3 performance for various tasks.  I was a bit
surprised to see how well ext2|3 hold up against the newer
filesystems in many cases.  Might be worth a look if you're
interested in such things.
