Well with Slackware there was NO support for either the network card I
had, the floppy drive, or the cd drive. Thus, no way of installing.
My particular Vaio is an oddity for me as a laptop because it is all
metal on the outside, and the whole thing is a heatsink. During the
gentoo compile it didnt fail, but was close to the sensation of going
into a shower that is a wee to hot. Except, of course, on your hands
and lap (guys, think of the children).
Made it through the gentoo compile and every time i wanted to use
portage, it was like a hot shower. No-go
