I'm pretty experienced doing this on Debian.  Some file paths will be
different, but I'd be happy to forward my notes.  Also, it'd be easier
on me (others too?) if you had specific questions.

As you're setting up LDAP, use a graphical LDAP tool to help you move
directory items about.  I use:
 * PHP Ldap Admin http://phpldapadmin.sourceforge.net/ (web app)

My strongest advice is to dive in and start playing with LDAP.  It can
be intimidating, but your (inevitable) config mistakes won't hose
anything, and you'll learn quickly.
