Well, these Maxtor's are a deal - just make sure you get enough to have
a RAID set to protect your data.  At $70 for 250GB with an 8MB cache I
doubt you'll find a better deal.  On the bright side, Maxtor is real
good about getting you replacement drives, but I'd reference my earlier
statement on preferentially not having them fail in the first place....

I should note - I am wondering how much of my shortened drive life
expectancy is due to inept / inadequate shipping.  Tiger does in
incredibly poor job - if you order a drive (and nothing else) it will
arrive in a stat bag placed into a thin plastic clamshell (think wall
display pack) then dropped into a FedEx mailer box with a handful of
styro peanuts.......  Dunno if you can request upgraded packing
materials, but it sure wouldn't hurt....

I should also mention that Tiger's rebate center is actually quite
good.....
