I live in Lawrenceville and own a home. (Well, the bank owns it, I'm
paying for it.) My house is modest but nice. I would have to look, but I
think I only dish out around $800/month to live. This includes car
payment, insurance, cable TV, electricity, gas, water, beer, and all the
geeky things I do. I do pretty much what I want and ignore my budget.
I'm not against moving to another city, but I know my days of cheap living
is but a memory if I leave.
Earlier in the summer I visited Boston. I loved it. However, $1800/month
for an apartment to me is crazy. Chicago seem reasonable from the
apartment advertisements I saw (I know nothing of the nieghborhoods,
though).
