Subject: [wplug] CCAC Advanced Networking Class South Campus (XAI-460-1540)

I signed up for the subject class and think it might be a nice follow-on to the SIA class that was never completed.  So far, there is only me signed up, but there is another month to go before class begins.  The class is non-credit and costs only $199 for 30 hours of classroom instruction.  I think it will be a good deal for anybody that wants to improve their networking skills.

It will be taught by Jack Parkin, network admin at U.S. Steel.  Here is his description of the class:
I support all of US Steel's locations in Pittsburgh directly, and handle projects at many locations around the country.  I am a network and system engineer, handling the Cisco network as well as the windows networking, with AD being my specialty.  Although I am sure you'd be able to school me in my limited Linux knowledge.

I have had quite a few students to date with stories similar to yours.  You have a broad knowledge base, you get many things to work, but sometimes things just don't always come together.  The good news is that I think this class is exactly what you need.  I take a logical approach to teaching networks.  I will help you take all of the knowledge you have and get it nice and organized.  Many of the things I will teach you, you already know.  I am sure you know the difference between a hub, a switch and a router.  I am sure you know what a subnet mask is.  But, the way I will present these lessons will be very much unlike most other classes on networking you've taken.
If you know of somebody that would like the class, please pass on this information.  I am hoping it doesn't get cancelled.

Thanks,

Greg
