Dear Michael,

You have come to the right place. I have sent your question to the general
discussion list, wplug at wplug.org
List participants, it's my understanding that Micheal is not subscribed so
you may want to cc him if you respond.

If you are looking for a distro with nothing but tarball based software,
you may want to check out slackware
http://www.slackware.com/config/packages.php

If you want to get deeper into the nuts and bolts and build your own
distro, you are looking for Linux From Scratch
http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/

Good luck.

Thanks,
Beth Lynn

Subject: Wanting to Learn Linux

I've been trying to figure out where/how to learn Linux. I've purchased
several books/distros, but all seem to be GUI related and distro specific.
I would like to learn Linux from scratch so to speak, by installing a base
system, and compile programs/applications from scratch. I was wondering if
this group or someone in this group would be able to help me in this
venture.
