Hello,

Western PA Linux Users Group will be hosting a General Users Meeting
(GUM) featuring "LiveCDs for the local .edu community." It will be held on 
this Saturday August 5, 2006 from 10am to 2:00 pm  at Carnegie Mellon 
University, Newell Simon Hall 3002. This meeting is free and open to the 
general public. No RSVP required.

Make sure to print out the directions. Due to demolition that started in
May 2006, you are encouraged to park on the large parking on Forbes across
the street from Hamburg Hall. If you don't know where this is *look at the
directions please.*

GUM Topic: LiveCDs for the local .edu community

Speakers: Brian Seklecki and Ted Rogers

Brian Seklecki and Ted Rogers will speak in brief about the process of 
branding and customizing a Linux distribution. The presentation will 
include a demonstration of initial work on a project to brand a LiveCD 
that appeals to the regional academic community. The talk will conclude 
with a town-hall discussion soliciting other ideas on how to attract 
greater attendance from the academic community. Suggestions for giving out 
free beer will not be considered unless you're referring to 'free' as in 
'free speech', not as in 'free beer'.

Schedule as follows:
10am-10:30am Donuts and Coffee
10:30am-11:30am business meeting
11:30am-12:15 pizza lunch
12:15-1:15 Main event, "LiveCDs for the local .edu community"
1:15-2pm General Socialization
