[wplug] Current status of "Distro on a CD"?

There are roughly a ton of distributions that are bootable. And asking 
for a "favored" one is like asking which is the "best" religion.  Bound 
to start an argument.  That being said, I use ubuntu 
(www.ubuntulinux.org), and have heard good things about puppy linux and 
dsl (damn small linux).   I think there is also "live" versions of some 
of the larger like (IIRC) SuSE, and Fedora may have a live version out 
there somewhere.

Ultimately it all depends on what your needs are.  Puppy and Ubuntu seem 
to emphasize easy of use for desktop users.  DSL emphasizes small distro 
sizes.  Knoppix is (IIRC) mostly the cutting edge of everything.

Distro Watch seems to keep a good list of what is out there with 
reviews, etc.
