The bad news is, I can't get out of work early to go to the council
meeting.

The good news is, they've extended the demo hours until 9:00 PM

I've used optical scan machines elsewhere, and they're really easy.
Plus, you can have humans recount the actual ballots if necessary.
However, they don't solve the issue for the visually impaired, and
accommodating non-English speakers means printing multiple ballots.
