Is your monitor being detected correctly? Just for kicks and grins, try a 
lower resolution with a different refresh rate.
 Personally I've moved from the Fedora tree over to CentOS which is the 
opensource equivilent to Red Hat Enterprise. It's binary compatible with 
RHEL too, so all the rpms should be interchangable.
