I've only been able to find piece meal documentation on how to implement
LDAP authentication. If you find anything that brings it all together
please let the mailing list know.

Sometime in March Poyner, Brandon assaulted the keyboard and produced:

|
| You'd still be using nsswitch.conf with LDAP. The man pages are out
of
| date even on Fedora Core 3 but they do hint to the answer:
|
| For glibc, you must have a file called
| /lib/libnss_SERVICE.so.X for
| every SERVICE you are using. On a standard installation, you
could
| use
| 'files', 'db', 'nis', and 'nisplus'.
|
| $ ls /lib/libnss_ldap*
| /lib/libnss_ldap-2.3.3.so /lib/libnss_ldap.so.2
|
| When automount is called it would reference LDAP instead of
| /etc/auto.misc if you had the line 'automount: ldap'

Ahh.. I see now. My mistake, I wasn't reading that too carefully. Your
explanation makes a lot of sense.
