FC3 release notes have a section explaining how to make VMware work properly with it. The udev devices, /dev/vm*, need copied to a location in /etc/udev. A site is also listed in the relase notes for an rpmfix called vmware-anyany that corrects another issue. Once those two steps are done, VMware works very well under FC3.
