Popular Demand: Regular Expressions
Speaker: James O'Kane
Host: Beth Lynn Eicher
Cohost: Matt Hughes

Talk Abstract:
Regular Expressions: Those odd-looking set of characters people talk about
when they mention regular expressions (or sometimes regex) are a powerful
tool for text matching. This talk will start with the basic constructs
such as '.', '+' and '?' and build up to more complex expressions. The
focus will be more toward the practical application rather than theory.
While regular expression engines can be found in most languages, examples
will be given in perl. If there is time, we'll try to take some example
problems from the audience and try building some expressions. The content
of the talk has been influenced by the O'Reilly Book on the subject:
http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/regex2/

Schedule:
* Doors will open at 10am to NSH 1507
* Coffee and Donut Hour 10am-11am
* Regular Expressions talk 11am-Noon
* Geeks Eating Pizza Noon-ish - 1pm
* Bylaws Meeting 1pm-2pm in NSH 1505
* General Socialization 1pm-2pm in NSH 1507

See you there!

Beth Lynn
