GUM TOPIC: Myth TV
Speaker: Patrick Wagstrom
Host: Beth Lynn Eicher

Abstract:
For many years we've been told of the coming digital revolution, where
movies, music, photos, and more will be just a fingertip away. Despite the
hype, few home media system are actually able to deliver on this promise.
I will discuss the basics of personal video recorders and home media
systems with a focus on MythTV, a suite of Linux programs that allows easy
access to all of your media from the comfort of your couch. In addition to
the features of MythTV, I will discuss some of the legislative and policy
issues affecting this field, what you can do to help, and why now might be
the best time to build a home media system.
Schedule:
* Doors will open at 10am to NSH 1507
* Coffee and Donut Hour 10am-11am
* MythTV talk 11am-Noon
* Geeks Eating Pizza Noon-ish - 1pm
* General Socialization 1pm-2pm in NSH 1507
See you there!
Beth Lynn
