I typically inline-post, but I'll top-post if someone's original
comment was brief. Or if I deleted most of the conversation,
intentionally or not.

I don't mind where you post. Any way that I can read works for me.
What I DO mind is when people don't trim their posts! I can point to
quite a few violators, right in this thread!

Oh yeah. "emacs" stands for Editing Macros. That was emacs' original
purpose on the old TECO text editor. It evolved into its own thing,
eventually.
