Ok, after using dd to write 0's to /dev/sda, I think I've completely removed
ntfs.
fdisk still says it's Fat32, but when I try to mount it (either with "auto" in
fstab, or manually "mount -t vfat /dev/sda1 mount", or with ntfs) I get:
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sda1,
missing codepage or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so
and checking dmesg...

FAT: bogus number of reserved sectors
VFS: Can't find a valid FAT filesystem on dev sda1.
I just formatted it with cfdisk, so I would have thought it would set up
whatever reserved sectors it needed.
Google turns up a couple people having this trouble with ntfs, but no
solutions I could find :-(
Thanks,
-Logan
