[wplug] DVD compatibility

I'm entering into this discussion late (and perhaps there is no existing example of what I'm going to suggest), but is there a utility that allows a user to change the "book type" on the burned DVD to fool the player into believing it's a different type of disk? I've heard of this kind of incompatibility in the Windows world.

That sounds a lot like there's something wrong with the burning drive,
like it's out of adjustment or something similar. I'd
beg/borrow/steal another drive, put it in that system, and try with
that. If it works, you can send the original back for refund /
replacement, and if not, then you're obviously Cursed and requre some
kind of exorcism.
