If you want to buy something physical I'd say Linux Journal (http://www.linuxjournal.com I think) - and also note the online archives are excellent. They cover stuff for the n00b, advanced hackers, and bits as they relate to current technology - all around a great mag (and argualy one of the oldest / longest lasting Linux rags out there). I googled for a deal, but only saved a buck or two.
