There are some fellow grad students over here with a new Dell computer.
They have installed fedora core (3 I believe). The problem they are having
is that X will only come up at 800x600. The monitor is a flat panel/lcd
thing (model e173fp) and the video is an integrated chip (i810 driver Intel
865 chip).

The first thing I thought to do is pop in a knoppix cd and let it
autodetect the hardware. However, knoppix only ran at 800x600 also. Then I
went to Dell's website and found the specs on the monitor:

http://www1.us.dell.com/content/learnmore/learnmore.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&~id=monitors&~mode=popup&~series=optix&~subcat=entry&~tab=details

Which indicates that it should have vertical and horizontal refresh rates
of 56-76Hz and 31-63kHz, respectively. I tried changing to these manually,
but it still only pushes video at 800x600.

Anyone have any advice on this one?
