Let's start with these. One, I'm sure I'm using gdm because - yes - it's
set in default-display-manager. I don't think 'gnome-session' was ever
being run - because changing it to 'enlightenment' had no effect, I would
guess the system is not checking my ~/.xsession file, or is overriding it.
Problem is, I don't know how I *am* starting my gnome session. It seems
pretty deeply entrenched (in Debian?). DOes gdm just 'do' that?
But let's forget that for now and let me try to figure out how to run
enlightenment ('E' hereafter) stand-alone? It does not show up in my gdm
window as a session option, even though I have confirmed that this works
in other cases (i.e. with Xfce).
