Won't something like the System Rescue CD or even Knoppix work?

I hate being an example! :)  I have all but my most recent work from
last week backed up.  It wont be terribly challenging to redo it, its
just tedious so I was hoping for a better way. The real problem here is
my backup options are limited in my current environment, out IT team
doesnt provide a remote network backup service.

oh well, I guess I'll move the disk into a Win system and see if any of
this software works.  IF I find anything good, I'll share with the
group.
