GUM TOPIC: "RPMs and SRPMs"
Speakers: Ted Rodgers
Host: Beth Lynn Eicher
CoHost: Mark Dalrymple
Abstract:
Redhat Package Manager (RPM) is a powerful utility used by numerous
distributions of Linux to add/remove or query installed software packages.
Higher-level package managers such as up2date, apt, yum, and others
provide a user-friendly interface to several the functions of RPM. While
binary RPM packages simplify software management, their source code
counterparts, SRPMS, allow developers to produce the tailored versions of
software.
Schedule:
* Doors will open at 10am to NSH 1507
* Coffee and Donut Hour 10am-11am
* "RPMs and SRPMs" talk 11am-Noon
* Geeks Eating Pizza Noon-ish - 1pm
* Organizational meeting
- Bylaws Committe 1pm in NSH 1505
* General Socialization 1pm-2pm in NSH 1507
See you there!
