Tutorial Topic: Introduction to Objective C
Speakers: Mark Dalrymple of Borkware
Host: Bill Moran
Cohost: Scott Kriebel

Abstract:
You may have heard some of the buzz about new programming languages like
Java, Python, and Ruby: "dynamic typing", "runtime binding", "object
oriented", "tastes great", "less filling". What you may not know that
there has been a C-based language with these features available for the
last 20 years. Objective-C is a very thin object-oriented wrapper on top
of regular C. While it is very simple, it gives a tremendous amount of
power.

Objective-C forms the basis of two mature, powerful, and elegant
programming toolkits: Cocoa (on Mac OS X), and GnuStep (cross-platform).

This wplug tutorial will cover the basics of Objective-C, Object-oriented
programming and give you a taste for Cooca and GNUstep. Some C programming
experience would be good, but not necessary.

Learn more about Mark's books, "Core MacOSX and Unix Programming" and
"Advanced Mac OS X Programming" on his website
