I was pretty surprised when we purchased one a few months ago.  I expected
they would all just look like a USB hard drive to the OS.

Not the case.  The Panasonic I got works OK, except it requires special,
Windows-only software.  I have no idea why these people feel they have to
reinvent the wheel when they make these things, but they do.
