[wplug] disk access question

Hi, I am having a the similar problem with Ubuntu on this Athlon xp
2000, I am using version 5.04 with 1 gig of ram. When I try to read a cd
there is no autorun and if I click on computer and try to open a cd the
machine freezes solid and the 3 finger salute does nothing, control alt
backspace after ten tries or so shuts down X but the only way out of
console is then control alt delete  which doesn't always work. I am
thinking it is Ubuntu related because I have removable drives with
fedora, gentoo and lowly win xp pro, in fedora the cd works fine and I
am still building gentoo so I can't say anything about it, so I am
thinking it is not something hardware related. Anybody got any ideas on
this problem also.
