[wplug] Woke up this morning to a noisy machine...hard drives?

When I woke up this morning and headed toward my machine, it was running
much louder than usual.

My only guess, is that it's the hard drives spinning louder. I shut down
the machine for a moment and started it back up and it sounded like they
were having trouble starting their spin up (again, I'm assuming this is a
hard drive spinning noise as I can't think of what other moving parts are
in the machine and it doesn't sound like the CD-ROM at all).

Is this a sign of impending hard drive doom? What would be the best
course of action?

Also, if I buy 2 new HDs, is there a way to completely copy everything
from one HD to another, meaning I could just pop the newly created drivs
in and the OS and everything would simply work in an identical fashion?
