There is a free software drop in equivalent for the accelerator that can
be found here: http://savannah.nongnu.org/projects/qvm86/
It is still in the early stages of development, though, and only x86.
It already works with qemu running a variety of guest OSes, though.
Similarly, http://www.freeoszoo.org/ is a great resource for running
emulated OSes under qemu. They have pre-installed images of many guest
OSes available for download (Darwin and other BSDs, several GNU/Linux
distros, FreeDOS, and even ReactOS).
