Graphical tools and autodetecting starting scripts may work 90% of the
time, but it's when you're stuck with the remaining 10%, understanding
these configuration files and diagnostic techniques can make your life
a lot easier. Also, once you start to figure them out, you can tweak
them to make it work the best for you.
