Please elaborate on what you mean by this--It sounds really interesting.

I should add that the last time I did this kind of stuff with RPM was 3 or 4 
years ago with RPM 2.something and Redhat 6.something.  I never had any 
problems with my RPM database, but I didn't use yum/up2date.
