I remember reading a while back that if a person's machine becomes
compromised, and that machine is then used to attack a third party, the
owner of the compromised machine can be held liable for damages even though
they are also a victim. I am trying to find either legal documentation or an
article summarizing this fact, but have so far been unsuccessful except for
a few haphazard comments in general articles on hacking. Does anyone know
where I might find such a thing?
